Paint Info

Visual art can be a beautiful outlet for human creativity. I've used it for years to express myself, comment on social/environmental issues and make my living. It was only after studying environmental science in university that I came to a disturbing realization, the art materials I was using were environmental hazards. Paint is toxic and everywhere, coating our cars, homes, offices, canvas and just about every modern artefact. No matter how deep we dig our landfills paint re-enters our environment, eventually.

After years of research and experimentation I have finally developed a way of making my paintings eco-friendly. Please visit my website [link] and learn how you too can make nontoxic art. If you have ever painted a canvas or a wall in your house or plan to...you shoud hear this.

Amazing artwork on your website! Cool to read how toxic my paints are too..Thanks!

I took a Studio Arts painting class a couple of quarters ago and was surprised to find out how toxic the paints are. We had a huge vat to pour the old paint water into which would then be disposed of properly. I never knew oil paints were so dangerous (and smelly, goodness.) I think I should learn to paint with watercolors in the future.

Your website about toxic paint is a great resource! Thank you so much for making it. It's true - many paints are toxic, and not just a little toxic either :(

I developed a serious allergie to oil paintings back in 2004. My right hand started to turn like fish or lizard skin!! And it hurted a lot, got this painful itchy feeling all day. Had to leave oils for a while. Started researching and found out about toxic agents and realized I was using poison!! When you work on a daily basis like me you cant work like this.
I'm also developing non-toxic techniques
Keep up the good work
And nice gallery by the way, I'll be watching

What a wake up call. Excellent information that I shall make a point to heed--particularly with my chaotic creation process, as I tend to wear half the paint I use.

:iconstefanthompson:
use stockmar watercolours, they are usually nontoxic, while most artist quality water colours are toxic...
