pure boiled linseed oil, mixed with 50% citrus thinner and pigment of choice, the more pigment the thicker the paint.

I came across the technique of smoke drawing a few months ago but have yet to try it. The artist would take a burning candle and hold it close enough for the smoke to "stain" the paper. After making smoke marks, the artist would add to the marks by drawing with charcoal.
If I can find the info I wrote down I will pass along to you, if you are interested.

This piece turned out nice. The image is almost morphing and moving before my eyes.
