This is a very beautiful and interesting picture.
I have so much trouble doing that... partly I think because my hands a little shaky, but I think there's something I'm doing wrong...my paint is never that opaque.
yeah, practice makes perfect,
but in terms of opacity,
you need to make sure its thick enough with pigment as well as using the right pigments,
this is a red iron oxide, they are probably amoung the most opaque pigments,
the more you try different pigments,
but yeah mars red, would be one of the best,
nice style!
