Dear everyone
Yes these are standing dead White Pine trees.
It has caused a fair bit of commentary and controversy.
And this is a very a good sign ! People care !
So now may be a good time to acknowledge the forest products that we use,
maybe without registering... the paper, the books, pencils, the tissues, the homes we live in ?
As well, every other "product" around us, no matter how dissociated in appearance they also comes from the earth !

Every time you post, you leave me intrigued. What a phenomenal idea! I can just imagine someone coming across these on a hike.
Do you mind me asking where exactly you carved these? Was it in a park of some kind?

Hey Scribs,
this particular series was done in a land art gallery....
which is basically some land, where people make various sculptural
installations.. Its outside Ottawa

i'm sorry that some people don't even take the time to understand your art. i knew as soon as i saw this series of carvings that these were dead trees. you would never do this to a living tree. i think some of your watchers need to take a closer look at the work you have been doing over the years. to me it is very clear that you are extremely ecofriendly and that there is a serious love, passion, and dedication to life in your work. it can be seen in every animal's face that you create. many times they look like they are pleading for help from a dark, dark place where their pleas are ignored. i guess the reaction by ignorant people proves this to be the case in all things. thank you for sharing with us.

STOP KILLING TREES, YOU BOTANICIDAL MANIAC!
Kidding.

Thanks for the clarification and congrats on creating work that is both aesthetically fascinating and sparks debate.

Next logical step: Carve into dead humans.
